                              high and dry

Intro:

main: F#m7(11) Asus2 E

                          F#m7(11)
                          two jumps in a week
                            Asus2
I bet you think that's pretty clever
                             E
                             don't you boy?

                       Flying on your motorcycle
watching all the ground beneath you drop
                  You'd kill yourself for recognition,
kill yourself to never ever stop
                       You broke another mirror,
you're turning into something you are not

Don't leave me high, don't leave me dry
Don't leave me high, don't leave me dry

Drying up in conversation, you will be the one who cannot talk
All your insides fall to pieces, you just sit there wishing
                       you could still make love

Don't leave me high, don't leave me dry...

Solo: (on a single string)

B-5-5-4-5-5--4-5-5--4-5s7s5-4--5-5-4-5-5-2-0----2---4-

B-5-5-4-5-5--4-5-5--4-5s7s5-4--5-5-4-5-5-2-0----------

It's the best thing that you ever had,
best thing that you ever ever had
It's the best thing that you ever had,
the best thing you ever had is going away

Don't leave me high, don't leave me dry...

                           fake plastic trees

Special thanks to: et-lee@ux4.cso.uiuc.edu

Okay, this is pretty accurate, I took the chords that Gene listed and
put them to the lyrics, figuring out the exact changes and the strumming
pattern. It sounds almost perfect when I play along to my CD and it
works well enough.

Strumming pattern:

e---------------------- (only strum for the D chord)
B----------x-----------
G----------x-----------
D---x-x----x-----------
A---x-x----x----------- (for the D chord, don't play this string...)
E--don't play----------

(4 of the above strums equals what you should play for
each chord when it changes)

(on the D/A/D change play 2 strums D, then 2 strums A, then 4 strums D)

Start strumming A for the intro, come in with
the lyrics on the second strum of the pattern)

A                            F#m
Her green plastic watering can
                               E  D
For her fake chinese rubber plant
              A     D
In the fake plastic earth
A                               F#m
That she bought from a rubber man
                            E   D
In a town full of rubber plants
       A      D
To get rid of itself

             Bm
It wears her out..
             A
It wears her out..
             Bm
It wears her out..
             A
It wears her out

She lives with a broken man
A cracked polystyrene man
Who just crumbles and burns
He used to do surgery
For girls in the eighties
But gravity always wins

And it wears him out..
It wears him out..
It wears him out..
It weeeeeaaaars

She looks like the real thing
She tastes like the real thing
My fake plastic love
But I can't help the feeling
I could blow through the ceiling
If I just turn and run

And it wears me out
It wears me out
It wears me out
It wears me out
And if I could be who you wanted
If I could be who you wanted
All the time..
All the time..

A (with more energy)
F#m (with more energy)
D (with more energy, no change this time)

(end on) A

                              [nice dream]

[Intro by Kasper van Benten]

C-B-Bb-A (x2)

A                           D
they love me like i was a brother
                        E
they protect me, listen to me
      A                 D
they dug me my very own garden
                           E
gave me sunshine, made me happy.

Bm          E          A
nice dream, nice dream, nice dream.

i call up my friend the good angel
but she's out with her answerphone
she says she would love to come help but
the sea would electrocute us all.

Bm          E          A           F#m
nice dream, nice dream, nice dream, nice dream

nice dream
nice dream
nice dream [if you think that you're strong enough]
nice dream [if you think you belong enough]
nice dream [if you think that you're strong enough]
nice dream [if you think you belong enough]

[anyone for the bridge section?]

Then back to "nice dream"

Didn't figure out any more of this song..... YET!

Lyrics:

can't get the stink off,
he's been hanging round for days.
comes like a comet,
suckered you but not your friends.
one day he'll get to you,
teach you how to be a holy cow.

don't get my sympathy
hanging out the 15th floor.
you've changed the lock 3 times,
he still comes reeling through the door.
and soon he'll get to you,
teach you how to get to purest hell.

you do it to yourself you do
and that's what really hurts is
you do it to yourself just you,
you and no-one else
you do it to yourself.
